Perhaps the most difficult skill to master in corporate communications is the art (and science) of crafting an effective speech. To call a speechwriter simply "a good writer" is inaccurate. A good speechwriter is also a strong researcher, an inspiring persuader and a polished spokesperson.
Every year, Ragan Communications chooses one person who brings all of these elements together to be recognized with the Annual Theodore C. Sorensen Speechwriting Award.
Named to honor the legendary speechwriter to John F. Kennedy, the award highlights achievement in this most important, specialized and overlooked form of organizational communication.
Any speech written or delivered in 2009 is eligible. Entries are now being accepted, and the winner will be recognized immediately after the keynote address at our 2010 Speechwriters Conference.
Every organizational speech is eligible for the Theodore C. Sorensen Speechwriting Award. If you write speeches for any organization...of any size...in any place:
in the public or private sectors for the government, a corporation, an association for a nonprofit or a for-profit in education or health care
You are eligible for the annual Theodore C. Sorensen Speechwriting Award!
Our judges will provide a full critique of every speech entered. You can submit as many entries as you like, but don't delay! All entries must be submitted by December 14, 2009. Learn how to enter.
