Programs for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Welcome to the Utah Schools for the Deaf!  Whether you are already familiar with USD, or just beginning your exploration, you will find a dynamic school full of opportunities, challenges and self-discovery for your child.

The School for the Deaf offers comprehensive academic, social, and post-high school programs for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.  The school offers a variety of educational opportunities in order to effectively meet the individualized needs of each student.  Families have the opportunity to choose from an ASL English Bilingual education, Oral education, and Total communication.  The school provides services to students ages three through twenty-one years of age.  The educational environment encourages the development of self-concept and challenges all students to achieve their potential.

In addition to individually designed instruction derived from the Utah Core Curriculum, our students may engage in sign language development, auditory verbal training, daily living skills, vocational skills, assistive adaptive technology training, Deaf culture and computer technology.
