Early Childhood Division
- Mission Statement
The Early Childhood Division strives to help every child develop all their senses by encouraging touching and movement, listening, smelling, and tasting while utilizing compensatory skills, maximizing functional vision, and creating opportunities for learning and exploration. We believe early identification allows us to build a solid foundation in all areas of development to prepare ALL children to function at their highest potential.
The service options for children ages 0-3 range from home-based, community/center, to toddler/playgroup classes. Early Intervention Vision Specialists work with parents and caregivers to address the child’s individual developmental needs because vision underpins every developmental domain.
Our preschool program serves children transitioning from early intervention for whom vision is their primary educational need. These children need intensive vision services to meet their needs. Our preschool program provides 18 hours a week of such services, with children representing a broad range of abilities. Our preschool philosophy is that children learn best from each other. Each classroom serves children with more complex needs who learn alongside children with few needs beyond vision, as well as typically developing children, same-age peers. This partnering creates beautiful friendships and endless opportunities for learning together!
