How We Help Children with Microtia

Many children with Microtia are born with one small ear or closed ear canal are not labeled as “Deaf” or “Hard of Hearing” by the medical community. Their parents are told, “They CAN hear.”

But with partial hearing loss, such as 50%, learning is truly challenging and exhausting for many of these children.

We want families to know that Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind has highly specialized teachers across the State of Utah who can help these kids be successful in school. We send traveling teachers, technology and resources to children at their local school districts, and we also have the option of serving them on campuses in Ogden, SLC, Springville, and St. George.

Meet one high school grad with Microtia who wished he would have known about the resources and support he could have received, if only he and his family had known about the campuses and statewide programs.
