First National Deaf Theatre Competition
In collaboration with Sunshine 2.0/NTID and DeafWest, the Utah School for the Deaf is hosting the first National Theater Competition for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in high school. The theme for this first year is ”HAND FLASH!”
Participants will submit an entry in one or more categories that will be judged by Sunshine 2.0 performers and other Deaf professionals in the field of acting. The following day workshops will be provided by Sunshine 2.0, DeafWest, and other professionals in Deaf theatre to develop performing skills. The event will include competition in the following categories; Ensemble, Monologue, Dou/Trio, ASL Performance and other. This may include ABC/Handshape/Numbers Stories, ASL Poetry, Sign Song, or special talents using ASL.
