Southern Utah School of the Deaf (SUSD) offers direct communication with teachers and peers in spoken language and American Sign Language, depending upon the needs of the students which is determined by their Individualized Education Plan (IEP)Team.

SUSD is committed to promoting and fostering a fully accessible learning environment with the goal of students becoming proficient in a language or languages that best meet their needs: American Sign Language (ASL) and/or Spoken English. Deaf children are cultural beings; we support linguistic, cultural, and social components to help deaf and hard of hearing students become productive and well-educated members of a rich cultural minority as well as society at large.
